BlackRock is the world's largest asset manager. This American multinational investment management corporation has  been in the UK and investing money on behalf of  UK clients for more than five decades. BlackRock is focused on developing their female employees with the incredibly valuable Women’s Initiative Network (WIN). We were invited to work with this leadership development programme by the Vice President.

After a successful female leadership programme with Bank of America and UBS, we were invited to deliver a multipart training programme for BlackRock’s WIN.

In the financial world, we know how difficult it is to take people away from their desks. This means that every second of the programmed needed to be engaging, impactful, challenging and relevant to their business needs. We would not be working with intact teams, but high-performing female managers from across the company.

The WIN Director development programme is created to provide the necessary skills to participants who are set to make the most difficult jump on the company ladder - from Manager to Director.

The Goal

The Outcome

In collaboration with our female trainers we created the bespoke 3 part programme: 

Improv, Soft Skills and the Director’s Jump

Session 1: An introduction to improv and how it fortifies teamwork.

Session 2: From the team to the individual - listening, empathy and communication.

Session 3: From the individual, outward - Presentation skills and embracing the unknown.

This challenging 7.5hr training programme took place over 3 weeks, and incorporated communication, supportive behaviour and presentation skills. 

100% Of Respondents said this course was open, inclusive and engaging.

The Future

We will continue to work within BlackRock, both within their WIN programme and with individual teams. Following our successful programme, the leader of WIN recommended our training to Jefferies investment bank - where we have started training individual teams, and are creating a bespoke programme for 300 of their employees.
