The Client

TalkTalk is a one of the world’s leading telecommunications companies, with over 4.2million customers worldwide. In 2019 the company moved HQ from London to the Soapworks in Salford and built a state-of-the-art workplace. With this move came a large in-take of new staff across all departments and experience levels.

With such a huge wealth of new experience joining TalkTalk it was important to let them know that their voices were valued within the company. The training would need to encompass the core values of TalkTalk and be relevant from entry level to C-Suite positions.

After an exciting and explorative meeting with TalkTalk and The Free Association, we identified a number of key areas that could benefit from The FA’s unique form of training and development.

We digested a wealth of information, company values and on-boarding goals before prioritising the 10 primary goals on the induction day. We would be tasked with being the employees very first experience in TalkTalk, and the following events of the day would further reinforce the content of our programme.

The Goal

The Outcome

We created a weekly workshop that would engage and Inspire new starters from day one, reinforcing their decision to join a forward thinking and ‘people focused’ company. The main focus of the session was a focus on their personal value, and create space for themselves, and their colleagues to speak up and suggest ideas. We looked at how do we encourage risk & relinquish precious ownership over our ideas, enabling people to deliver them earlier and develop them as a team.

The workshop was a dual trainer lead presentation and practical workshop that continually encompassed the language and values of TalkTalk, reinforced by the experience of The Free Association.

This programme is ongoing, and has been delivered to over 300 new starters with a incredibly positive response.

The Future

The on-boarding programme is still ongoing, and we continue to provide an integral part of the employees first experience of their new workplace. The L&D team at TalkTalk now trust the techniques of improv, wholeheartedly, and we have been invited to create an experiential high performance leadership programme for 300 business leaders, which we are hoping to launch in 2021.
