The Client

Irish Life, a prominent life insurance provider, recognised the challenges that their teams faced in adapting to the virtual landscape. Many employees had to establish meaningful connections with colleagues and clients virtually, a task previously carried out in person. Their Learning & Development reached out to address this need in early 2020, just as COVID-19 struck and as we entered our first lockdown.

After extensive discussions with senior L&D and Sales Teams at Irish Life, the Adaptive Leader program titled "Inspiring Others in a Disrupted Digital World" was launched. Participants learned how to adapt and lead effectively in a digital landscape.

Irish Life then engaged in a significant joint program involving over 60 top sales advisors from Irish Life and Allied Irish Bank.Advisors, responsible for dealing with sensitive information, aimed to improve interactions with clients in a virtual setting. ‘Human to Human: Improv and Effective Selling Program’ was born - the program focused on active listening, empathy, and maintaining a positive conversational flow within the legal requirements of their scripts.

The Future

The challenges posed by COVID-19 reshaped the landscape of in-person training. Over a six-month period, we adapted our programs to be just as impactful online. In addition to Irish Life, we began more virtual workshops with other companies, including - White & Case, Aspen Insurance, Royal Institute of British Architects, Intratone, and BMW.

Our commitment to providing real-time learning in a safe environment remains unchanged, ensuring teams and individuals can connect effectively in the virtual world.

Irish Life's partnership with The Free Association exemplifies the transformation of virtual communication and leadership in response to the challenges posed by the global shift to remote work. Through engaging, high-quality programs, participants have been empowered to navigate the digital landscape effectively and build connections with colleagues and clients, ensuring that the essence of their work remains strong even in virtual spaces. Irish Life's ongoing commitment to these initiatives highlights their dedication to growth and adaptation in a changing world.
